About Us

The Museum of Inuit Art operates a retail gallery in order to fund both the museum and to actively support the artists and communities in the Arctic. All profits from the Gallery go directly to supporting the museum and all of the pieces for sale come through specific channels. MIA receives pieces from three different organizations: La Federation des cooperatives du Nouveau-Quebec, Arctic Co-Operatives Limited, and the Northwest Company. Each of these organizations buys works directly from artists and sets prices for the works that the Gallery honours.

The Gallery represents Inuit artists through their co-operatives from across the Canadian Arctic. All profits from the Gallery support cultural, educational and acquisition programs at the Museum of Inuit Art.
